The Kingdom of Tonga is located east of Australia in the South Pacific. The Kingdom is composed of 169 islands, 36 which are inhabited. Tonga covers 500 miles from north to south, and is divided into three main groupings of islands.
The nation's capital Nuku'Alofa is located on the largest island Tongatapu, of the Tongatapu group. The most northern group is the Vava'u group and the middle group is the Ha'apai group. MMCTA does its work in the waters of the Ha'apai group, which is the most remote region and least touched by tourism, and the more popular Vava'u group.
Our work is not possible without the support of donors and volunteers. Make a donation and recieve a free Humpback Whale poster.
